OG Camp by Vision Baptist Church
Very grateful that many of us were able to preach at the OG Camp this week. I pray God works in the lives of these young people!
Rishel Family Leaves for the Field
Jason and Charity Rishel loaded their container as they prepared to return to Burkina Faso. I am grateful for those who helped them load.
The Lord Is Working In Chile!
Praise the Lord for this lady who was saved in Chile after English class. Kyle and Hannah Shreve have seen a couple of people saved this week, and I’m grateful they shared this picture for us to rejoice in. Amen!
Continued Work On Guys Dorm!
The guy’s dorm is advancing. Plumber has finished his job. Once the electrician finishes, the contractor will continue building. Praying and anticipating to be finished by the end of this month!
Missionary Highlight
This section is so you can learn more about (or be reminded of) VBM missionaries serving around the world. We will be working in alphabetical order, and the next missionary is Sam & Beth Quinn.
Sam’s Testimony
I was born into a Christian family and was blessed to be involved in missions to the British Virgin Islands as a child. I was saved at fourteen in a Christian Summer Camp at Camp Carson in Tennessee. Shortly after that, we joined Victory Chapel Baptist Church in Conestee, SC, where I have been able to be involved in the Camp, Children’s, Missions, and Bible Institute ministries. While in Bible College, I realized I needed to be properly baptized and was baptized at my home church.
In the summer of 2006, I hit a crossroads in my life. I was not actively serving the Lord with my life and had very little ambition to do so. As I was reading my Bible one evening I came upon John 7:18 “He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.” This verse opened my eyes to the fact that I had been living my life for my ambitions and desires and that I needed to surrender my life to the Lord as His servant. The week following I felt the call to preach, and I applied at Tabernacle Baptist College the week after that.
At the end of my college career, I knew the Lord wanted me involved in missions but I did not feel I had the practical knowledge to do the work. The Lord gave me the opportunity to work with Travis Snode in Northern Ireland for a year. This turned into three years in which I was allowed to be song leader, assistant pastor, camp director, and pastor for a year while the Snodes were on furlough. The experience I gained there was a great blessing!
The Lord has now let me return to the United Kingdom to be a church-planting, leader-training missionary.
Beth’s Testimony
I grew up in a Christian home and realized after church one day that I was lost and needed a Savior. My mom took the bible and showed me how to be saved. At the age of 5, I put my faith and trust in Christ and was born again. Not long after, I followed the Lord in believer’s baptism. God allowed me to go on my first mission trip to Peru while I was in college, where God began to work with my heart on missions. I knew God wanted me to be in full-time ministry, so I transferred to Crown College of the Bible and completed my bachelor’s degree there.
A few years later, I got to go on a 6-week internship in North Africa. While in North Africa, God broke my heart for the Muslim people. The Masters, who were the host missionaries, asked me if I would be willing to come back with them to help. So I did. I left for the field in September 2013 and served 2.5 years in North Africa.
Our Story
In July 2015, Beth and I met through our friends at Vision Baptist Church. We were blessed to get to know each other over the following two weeks. Then, I left for my survey trip in India, and she went back to North Africa, where she was serving. Most of our relationship was long distance. Due to a visa trip, Beth was home that November, and we were engaged to get married! She came home in March, and we were married July 23, 2016. Our daughter Ruby was born in December 2017, and our son William was born in June 2019. We are blessed to serve the Lord as a family in the United Kingdom!
Update
We’re currently planting a church in Colchester, England. We’ve been serving here for a year and nine months, and the Lord has consistently blessed us with around 17 people every Sunday. We’ve also seen three people saved in the last year!
I’ve also started preaching for Downham Baptist Church in London while they are searching for a pastor. The church has gone through some recent difficult changes, but the Lord has blessed and kept them together!
