Be Still

Be Still

“Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.” — Psalm 46:10

Take a moment to think about the phrase “Be still, and know that I am God.” It’s a tough one for most of us, but it’s a lesson that God seems to use a lot in the Bible, and He still uses it today.

The key is not to be anxious, but to be still. Don’t doubt that God is God and in control; just know it. Don’t waste your time trying to figure everything out or worrying about how things will work out. Just relax and let go.

Sometimes, being still is forced upon us. When we’re sick, we can’t move around. Other times, when we’re going through tough times, we have to be still. Whether we choose to be still or are forced to be still, God commands us to be still. But the real purpose isn’t just to be still; it’s to take some time to think and realize that God is still God and still in control.

Being still (relaxing, letting go, and calming down) doesn’t make sense to us until we realize that God has never failed and never will fail. God promises to make things work out. He promises not to abandon us. He commands us to cast all our care upon Him. So, calm your anxious hearts, because we can know that God is God, and He is in control!
