Decide Now, Details Later

Decide Now, Details Later

“And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them?” — Exodus 3:13

God instructed Moses to go to Egypt to free His people from slavery. Moses eventually obeyed God and led Israel out of Egypt. However, before entering Egypt, Moses faced a decision. God commanded him to go, and Moses demonstrated his obedience by saying ‘when I’ instead of ‘if I.’ Although Moses later asked for more details, he initially chose to obey.

The application is for everyone: the decision to obey should always come before seeking details. God may not reveal the details right away, as seen in Abraham’s life when he was told to go to a land God would later show him (Genesis 12:1). Regardless of whether God shares the details of His will and plan, He expects obedience from His children. Choose to obey first, and the details may follow later.
